On Tuesday, Class of 2025 four-star wide receiver Malik Clark stated on the social media platform “X” that the University of North Carolina football team had earned a spot on his top five list.
Other schools in Clark’s top five include ACC rivals Florida State and North Carolina State, as well as SEC powerhouses Auburn and South Carolina.
North Carolina has been actively recruiting Clark, a six-foot-one receiver from Rock Hill, South Carolina, who is scheduled to visit Chapel Hill on Friday. Clark has rapidly risen through the WR rankings, and is presently ranked No. 22 nationwide by 247sports.
Clark is a very quick athlete who competes in track and field outside of football. Clark finished third in the South Carolina 5A 100-meter championships as a junior, crossing the line in 10.62 seconds. His quickness has allowed him to dominate on the field, ending his junior football season with 800 yards and nine scores on 46 receptions.
The Gamecocks appear to be the Tar Heels’ most significant recruiting rival, with the goal of keeping Clark in the state. Clark traveled to South Carolina on Sunday, June 2nd.

Clark spoke with Gamecock Digest following his meetings with South Carolina’s head coach, Shane Beamer, and wide receiver coach Mike Furrey. “They talked about me being a top priority and staying home to help win a championship,” Clark added.
As the weekend approaches, all eyes are focused on Clark’s visit to Chapel Hill. This visit is a watershed point in the recruitment process, and if Mack Brown and the Tar Heels are to keep Clark in Carolina blue in 2025, they must pull out all the stops.
