The Virginia Cavaliers received another pledge from Cincinnati linebacker Dorian Jones through the transfer portal, their second addition since the end of spring practice.
Jones, who had previously committed to UTEP earlier this month, switched to UVA after visiting Charlottesville this week.
Jones, a 6’0, 230-pound sixth-year senior from Boynton Beach, Fla., played his first four years of college at Louisville, where he amassed 90 tackles in 36 games from 2020 to 2022.
Jones subsequently went to Cincinnati under head coach Scott Satterfield before the 2023 season, where he recorded a career-high 56 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 interception in 11 games.
His 56 tackles ranked third on the Bearcats’ defense, and he had a career-high 13 tackles in a strong performance against Oklahoma on September 23.
Jones graduated from American Heritage High School in South Florida as a three-star prospect in the 2019 class and was named the Miami Sentinel’s Broward County Class 5A-1A Defensive Player of the Year after ending his senior season with 122 tackles and 29 TFLs.

Jones, who has one year of eligibility remaining, is a powerful, tough player who will bring a seasoned presence and a wealth of knowledge to Virginia’s youthful linebacker corps, which includes star sophomore Kam Robinson and juniors Stevie Bracey and Trey McDonald.
The ‘Hoos have now filled 84 of the available 85 scholarships for the 2024 season, including a pledge from Dartmouth offensive line transfer Ethan Sipe on May 1.
