“It’s been a long time coming, and now you can see it on the horizon, and I know she’s excited,” Goff says about the couple’s approaching wedding.
Jared Goff and his fiancée, Christen Harper, are preparing a wedding to “remember.”
The 29-year-old NFL quarterback, who just collaborated with Jared Jewelers, told PEOPLE about his forthcoming wedding to Harper as the date approaches.
“This summer we’re getting married in California, and we’re very excited,” adds Goff. “California is where I grew up and live currently, and my fiancée is from just outside of [Los Angeles] so she was born and raised there as well. So we have some pretty good roots there.”
He went on to say that they planned a two-year engagement to ensure that everything about the wedding was perfect.
“It’s been a long time coming, and now you can see it on the horizon, and I know she’s excited,” he says. “I understand she’s doing a lot of the planning. I haven’t been too involved, and I hope to get back into it now, but it will be a lot of fun.”
“We will have all of our friends and family there. “It’ll be a big party that we’ll remember forever,” he says.
Goff also expressed his excitement to spend the rest of his life with Harper, describing his ideal day off the field with his Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model bride.
“It starts out with a walk. “We live in L.A., so a nice sunny beach walk with my fiancée,” he explained. “And then sushi.”
“I’m probably going to end up taking a nap at some point,” he says. “And then it’s going to end with a pasta dinner at home, just me and my fiancée, and we’re good.”
The Detroit Lions player proposed to Harper on a beautiful beach while on vacation with pals in Los Cabos, Mexico. In an Instagram post, the model described the trip as “the best weekend of her life”.
“6.16.22 can’t wait for forever with you,” she said in the post, announcing her engagement.
A few days later, she informed her social media fans that she was “still on cloud 9.”
In his own engagement message, the NFL player stated, “I’m the happiest guy in the world because I get to spend eternity with you. “I love you, @christenharper.”
The couple has been linked since early 2019, when the New York Post reported that Harper went to Super Bowl 53 to support Goff, who was playing for the Los Angeles Rams at the time. She has now been one of his most devoted social media followers, even cheering him on after his first Lions victory.
Before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on January 28, the Lions had their first winning season since 2017. The 9-8 record and deep playoff run raised interest in Goff and Detroit’s NFL squad.
On April 23, Goff and Jared Jewelers will give back to Detroit by presenting a grant to Give Merit, a Detroit-based organization, to support their FATE Program.
The FATE Program mentors, develops leadership skills, and supports Detroit adolescents in order to help them graduate from high school and college on time. Jared Jewelers and Goff will also personally recognize some of Detroit’s most dedicated football fans and supporters for their support during the historic 2023 season.
Fans will expect a meet-and-greet with Jared Goff, but instead will receive a “offensive lineman-worthy” surprise gift.
Goff tells PEOPLE that the collaboration with Jared Jewelers is smooth, and not only because of the name association.
“Obviously the name makes it easy, but beyond that, I think what they provide to customers and the personal custom experience that they provide and their wide range of variety of jewelry and whatnot is such an organic partnership for me, and a company that I’m really proud to be partnered with.”
To Detroit Lions supporters, the jeweler’s motto, “He went to Jared,” has become a tribute to Goff’s on-field success.
“Years ago, as soon as that commercial became a thing, and the name is spelled the same, it became a joke amongst my friends,” Goff recalls. “And then it began to appear on signs in our stadium very frequently this year, and fans enjoyed to use it when we won games and I was performing well. So that was fun.”
