Since taking over the Duke Basketball program, head coach Jon Scheyer has prioritized the best high school players in the country in each of the three classes. After securing the top athlete in the class of 2024 and being a contender for the top player in 2025, Scheyer has made the top-rated player in 2026 an early target for Duke.
Jared McCain talked Duke interest. He said: “It’s Duke. You know, I’m only 16 years old and I’m getting a Duke recruiting call, like it was just crazy to me. It really means a lot to me because they are a top, top school and for them to show interest in me, it just means a lot to me”.
Brandon McCoy, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound point guard from Bellflower (CA) St. John Bosco, is one of the most sought-after athletes in high school basketball despite only being a rising junior. McCoy already has a who’s who of scholarship offers from throughout the country, so he’ll be able to choose where he plays college ball in two years.
