The Washington men’s basketball team has been active in the transfer portal this week.
Tyree Ihenacho, a transfer from North Dakota, has committed to the Huskies, according to his agent, Jack Lieb.
Last season, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists, earning second-team All-Summit League honors.
Ihenacho, an unranked prospect from Lake Prior, Minnesota, began his career at North Dakota before transferring to James Madison for two years. He returned to North Dakota for last season.
After last season, he re-entered the transfer portal and headed to Wyoming, but after a coaching change, he returned.
Ihenacho has one more season of eligibility and accepted the Huskies’ final scholarship offer.
UW has been stacking on guard commitments. Of the nine new commitments, six are in the backcourt.
Last Friday, UW received a commitment from Rhode Island transfer Luis Kortright.
Previously, Washington signed guards DJ Davis from Butler and Mekhi Mason from Rice, as well as Zoom Diallo and Jase Butler, two top prep recruits.
UW also received a significant boost Monday when former Utah State forward Great Osobor, last year’s Mountain West Player of the Year, agreed to follow his coach to UW, allegedly for $2 million in NIL money.
