2026 O-line recruit Benjamin Novak discusses receiving an offer from the Indiana football program.
Earlier this month, 2026 in-state recruit Benjamin Novak of Merrillville (IN) Andrean High School received his first Big Ten offer from the IU football program. The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive tackle told Peegs.com about his interest in the Hoosiers.
Novak claimed he was able to form a solid bond with the new Indiana coaching staff in a short period of time.
“One thing that stands out to me about the Indiana program is how I’ve built a more personal connection with the new coaches,” he stated. “In a way I feel welcomed to one of my home colleges.”
The three-star prospect claimed he has grown particularly close to the assistant coach for the Indiana Hoosiers who recruits in his region.
“I believe I have a good relationship with Coach Buddha Williams,” Novak stated. “He has come to Andrean a handful of times now, and I always have a positive experience with him.”
According to Novak, the IU staff believes he would excel as an interior lineman due to his physical abilities.
“The coaches see my playing guard in college,” he said of the message from the Indiana Hoosiers. “They love the physicality that I bring to the table.”
Novak paid an unofficial visit to Indiana University last fall and intends to return as soon as possible to spend time with the incoming staff.
“I am for sure going to make my way to Bloomington this season,” he stated. “I would love to view the facilities and get a chance to talk with the coaches.”
Currently, Novak has offers from Indiana, Louisville, Akron, Toledo, Ball State, Bowling Green, Marshall, and Western Michigan. According to 247Sports, he is Indiana’s seventh greatest prospect and the nation’s number 36 interior offensive lineman.
