The New England Patriots front office is currently in disarray, with Eliot Wolf operating as the de facto General Manager and Director of Scouting now that head coach and pseudo-GM Bill Belichick has left the team after decades of leadership.
There was never a formal general manager on Belichick’s staff, and now the front office is attempting to piece things together, but one Buffalo Bills executive has declined to interview for the post.
According to NBC Sports’ Albert Breer, Bills Director of Player Personnel Terrance Gray was invited to interview for New England’s primary football executive role, but rejected, most likely because Wolf is expected to earn the job.

Wolf managed the team through free agency and the draft process, but he has yet to be officially designated permanent general manager since the organization must still meet the Rooney Rule and go through a thorough interview process.
Wolf has stated that running this ship has been and will continue to be a team endeavor, despite the fact that he made the final decisions during the draft and was the driving force behind Drake Maye’s selection.
It would be bizarre to let Wolf go through this entire process and make such significant franchise-altering moves as drafting Maye, only to not give him the job.
