Prominent Phoenix Suns members, including GM James Jones and Owner Mat Ishbia, are slated to speak with reporters on Wednesday, but one insider says don’t expect anything significant to emerge regarding the future of head coach Frank Vogel.
“I do not expect there to be an announcement on the future of Frank Vogel and his staff at the press conference tomorrow,” Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro tweeted.

The Suns were recently swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, prompting many to question Vogel’s job security after the club failed to meet expectations.
Shams Charania and Doug Haller of The Athletic published a joint article nearly immediately after Phoenix’s official exit, confirming the Suns’ desire to take a “hard look” at Vogel’s position:
“But the buck stops with the head coach, and for the second summer in a row, sources close to the issue informed The Athletic that Phoenix will seriously consider making a wholesale coaching change or, at the very least, discussing changes to Vogel’s staff. According to those sources, general manager James Jones will continue to oversee the Suns’ team-building efforts.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski expressed similar comments earlier in the day, before the Suns lost Game 4 at home.
Vogel was recruited by Ishbia last offseason after Monty Williams was fired, and he led the Suns to the second round before the Denver Nuggets eliminated them.
If Vogel is hired, the Suns will have their third coach in as many seasons, with 2024-25 on the horizon.
