Breaking news: Newcastle United now facing potential ban

According to The Times, the FA could prohibit teams from scheduling expensive friendlies at the conclusion of the season following the announcement that Newcastle would face Tottenham in May.

The match is slated to take place in Australia just three days after the season’s final game. This raised worries, especially with a major tournament coming up this summer, but we all understood that the drive for both parties was the financial gain and commercial expansion on offer.

Of course, this has only become an issue because Newcastle did it. Other clubs had previously flown to America and Asia for similar end-of-season games, but nothing was done to address the situation.

They have implemented laws that limit clubs’ spending to a certain amount of their earnings. Then, when clubs want to boost revenue, they put a stop to numerous methods and get to choose which sponsorship deals are approved. Sounds like a major effort to manage the expansion of a specific club with the goal of disrupting the ‘big six.’

This is becoming a recurring theme at Newcastle United. First, there were constant attempts to prevent the Saudi takeover, followed by a change in FFP rules to limit our spending, an emphasis on ‘fair market value’ when agreeing to commercial deals, and a ban on related-party transactions, which prevented us from selling certain players to Saudi Arabia, as Chelsea did, or bringing in an SPL player on loan.

There have been so many regulatory developments that have limited our expansion over the previous two years that it cannot be a coincidence. What happens next? It is no longer a joke.
