A report in Germany claims that Real Madrid is interested in signing Malick Thiaw from AC Milan this summer and is working on a deal.
According to Bild, Real Madrid is ‘working actively’ to recruit German international Malick Thiaw from Milan. The former Schalke superstar is under contract with the Rossoneri until 2027, and his current market worth is roughly €30 million.
The center defender joined Schalke in 2015 and progressively worked his way up to the senior team, where he made his debut in 2020. After 61 competitive appearances and three goals, he joined Milan in the summer of 2022 for €8.8 million.
This season, the 22-year-old has only appeared in 17 league games for Milan, primarily owing to a long-term thigh ailment. The story makes no mention of the management’s view on a prospective sale, but a recent report named him as a contender to leave if the right deal comes in.
Thiaw did not start the previous few games against Roma in the Europa League and Inter in the league, which may indicate that Stefano Pioli’s confidence in him has waned. That said, Pioli is anticipated to be fired, so a new head coach may have a different perspective.
