Tampa Bay Buccaneers snag potential defensive game-changer in latest seven round 2024 NFL Draft projections

Can the Tampa Bay Buccaneers repeat their success from last season in 2024?

In 2023, the Baker Mayfield-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South and defeated the defending NFC Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the wild card round. Mayfield signed a three-year, $100 million contract to return to Tampa, while franchise veteran Mike Evans agreed to a two-year, $52 million contract with the only team he has ever played for.
ESPN’s Jordan Reid has revealed his latest seven-round mock draft, in which he projects the Bucs to choose Penn State EDGE rusher Chop Robinson with the 26th choice in Thursday’s draft.

Round 1, Pick 26: Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State

“There’s a good chance Robinson isn’t still on the board at No. 26, as scouts tell me he’s receiving mid-Round 1 interest. But he’s here in this scenario, and the Bucs must replace Shaquil Barrett at the edge. Robinson is explosive, with lightning-fast first steps. Overall production isn’t particularly impressive (four sacks in 2023), but his 18% pressure rate would have ranked fourth in the FBS if it had qualified. Robinson is now a pressure-over-sacks prospect who will most likely need to be rotated for a while as he matures, but he has the potential to make life difficult for Tampa Bay’s opponents off the edge. Last season, the Bucs were 24th in pressure rate (27.3%).

 

 

Round 2, Pick 57: Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia

“It won’t be easy to replace Ryan Jensen, but Frazier has the potential to become a regular on this offensive line. His powerful hands, toughness, and instincts would make him an immediate starter in Tampa Bay.”

Round 3, Pick 88: Mason McCormick, G, South Dakota State

“Bucs GM Jason Licht is not afraid to target small-school interior offensive linemen; he just drafted Cody Mauch from North Dakota State last year.” McCormick may potentially be a starter in Tampa Bay.”

Round 3, Pick 91: Kris Abrams-Draine, CB, Missouri

After trading away Carlton Davis III, the Buccaneers had a shortage of cornerbacks. Abrams-Draine can play inside or outside, and he recorded four interceptions and 11 pass breakups last season.
