Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills quarterback, will have a new backup for the 2024 NFL season as Kyle Allen moves on.
Kyle signed a one-year, $1.29 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers during free agency. On Tuesday, April 23, his fiancée, Summer Juraszek, responded to a fan inquiry on Instagram Stories: “Is there anything you’ll miss about Buffalo?”
“Everything,” she replied, using a heart emoji. “The people!!!”
Kyle was best friends with Josh before signing with the Bills, so leaving Buffalo will likely be more difficult than usual. While the 28-year-old never started in Buffalo, he did appear in seven games but did not register any stats.
Kyle has played for the Carolina Panthers, the Washington Commanders, and the Houston Texans since his NFL debut in 2018. Allen has 4,734 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions in 23 games, 19 of which he started.
Juraszek, on the other hand, is thrilled with her husband’s new job chance. After Steelers general manager Omar Khan announced Kyle’s signing at the NFL’s annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, she took to Instagram to celebrate. She scribbled “Here we go,” with a gold and black heart. “Year 7. I am so grateful! “Love you, @kyle_allen.”
Kyle is no longer with the Bills, but he and Josh remain good friends. Josh called his former backup’s forthcoming wedding this summer the offseason activity he’s “most excited” about during an appearance on Kyle’s “The QB Room” podcast.
Josh Allen Skipped the Oscars With Hailee Steinfeld to Attend Kyle Allen’s Bachelor Party
Speaking to Kay Adams on her “Up & Adams” live broadcast in Las Vegas on February 9, Allen intimated that he would attend the 2024 Oscars with his girlfriend, Hailee Steinfeld, on March 10. Steinfeld’s film “Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse” was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.
Josh, however, did not go because Kyle’s bachelor party was scheduled for the same weekend. The crew included Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk, and “The QB Room” co-host Jordan Palmer.
On the episode, Josh joked about nearly ruining the boys’ trip to Ohoopee Match Club in Georgia, where they played golf. While Kyle was leading, Josh came back to equalize the score. “Kyle looked at me afterward, and goes, ‘I haven’t been this sad in a long time,'” Josh said.
Josh, Kyle, and Summer all went to Kirk’s wedding in Arizona earlier this month.
Former Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky Returned to Buffalo as Josh Allen’s Backup QB
While Kyle travels to Pittsburgh, former Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky returns to Buffalo. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft left the Bills on good terms.
He became the Steelers’ new starting quarterback, but things did not go well. After signing a two-year $14.25 million contract with incentives worth up to $27 million, his stint as a starter was brief.
By week five of the 2022 NFL season, Pittsburgh had benched Trubisky in favor of rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett. Trubisky had two more starts after Pickett’s ankle injury last season, going 0-2. Pittsburgh replaced him with quarterback Mason Rudolph, who went 3-0 and secured the Steelers’ postseason berth.
While Trubisky had “a few spots” in mind for where he wanted to go, he told reporters that returning to Buffalo was at the top of his list. To “join a contender” and rejoin with Josh, “It just felt like a no-brainer,” the 29-year-old explained.
Trubisky inked a two-year contract with the Bills worth $5.25 million, with $2.7 million guaranteed.
