Aaron Judge’s ‘dawg’ message after Yankees comeback vs. Blue Jays will fire up fans

The New York Yankees have been one of the hottest teams in the MLB to begin the 2024 season, and their victories have come in a variety of ways. Their most recent triumph was a 6-4 comeback over the Toronto Blue Jays, with Aaron Judge delivering the game-winning two-run single in the top of the ninth.

Judge has had a sluggish start to the season (.183 BA, 3 HR, 3 RBI,.710 OPS), but he continues to provide for his club in crucial occasions. After the victory, Judge was quick to deflect the accolades, simply stating that New York is a team made up of “dawgs,” which is allowing them to win as frequently as possible to begin the season.

“We look around this room every day in this clubhouse; there are a lot of ‘dawgs,’ as Dugey [Alex Verdugo] says. Just guys that refuse to quit. They have strong at-bats to the end. Guys come out of the bullpen and get us big outs. I believe it is simply a matter of trusting one another to complete the task. – Aaron Judge on MLB.com

New York has personified a relentless mentality in their quest to win as many games as possible, and it has served them well early in the season. Even though their best hitter, Judge, has had a slow start to the season, the Yankees lead the league in victories with 13, which is quite astounding.
The manner the team is playing has had a significant impact on one of their newest players, Juan Soto, who has had a scorching hot start to the season with New York (.352 BA, 4 HR, 17 RBI, 1.055 OPS).

Soto highlighted that the Yankees are playing with a lot of confidence, and that their trust in one another is causing them to never give up, no matter what position they find themselves in.
“We are confident; we grind every day and play 27 outs. I am quite confident in this crew. We all know the types of players we have. “I trust each and every one of them.” – Juan Soto of MLB.com

They’ve only played 19 games, but things feel different for the Yankees this season, and Aaron Judge and Juan Soto’s words following their latest thrilling win capture that perfectly. Of course, winning in the regular season will mean little to championship-hungry New York fans, so the club must continue to win on a nightly basis in order to give their title ambitions the best chance of success.
