‘It’s over’: Newcastle United man to leave club after extensive talks

Miguel Almiron could leave Newcastle United this summer, according to Football Insider sources.

On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that “a number of clubs” are anticipated to be interested in Almiron, 30, this off-season.

The attacker was on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab in the January transfer window, but the deal fell through despite protracted negotiations.

It is thought that the Saudi club did not match Newcastle’s £30 million valuation for the Paraguay international, therefore he stayed on Tyneside.

However, clubs are anticipated to look at the forward as a potential target, and the Magpies are prepared to accept an appropriate offer.

They are also anticipated to restrict player sales this summer, citing concerns that they may violate the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

According to Football Insider (17 March), Eddie Howe’s team will have to sell one of their key players this summer.

Despite being on the verge of leaving the North-West, Almiron has been a consistent starter for Newcastle in 29 appearances across all competitions.
In 41 appearances, the right-winger has five goals and three assists, but has not scored in the Premier League since December.

Newcastle are ninth in the Premier League table following their 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday (6 April).

They return to action at St James’ Park against Tottenham this weekend (April 13).
