Leeds United will meet Coventry City in the Championship on Saturday.
Coventry City manager Mark Robins will assess striker Matty Godden’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s game against Leeds United. The Sky Blues will be looking to rebound from their defeat to Cardiff City on Easter Monday and keep their play-off ambitions alive when they face Leeds this weekend.
However, it is unclear whether they will be able to rely on Godden, who missed Monday’s game due to an injury sustained in the final few minutes of Good Friday’s win against Huddersfield Town.
Godden has been prominently involved under Robins this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions, and while the manager is confident he can recover in time, there is some doubt.
“Matty has been out with a calf injury since Friday, so I’m hoping he’ll be fine by the weekend,” Robins told Coventry Live. “He just felt terrible after the Huddersfield game, so we had to offload him for a day or two to see if he could get himself together. “But that’s where we are.”
Coventry will be unable to call on Jamie Allen this weekend, as the midfielder has been ruled out with a muscular ailment.
“He’s got a specific setback,” Robins explained. “He has a calf ailment at the moment. It’s just tight because he’s been gone so long.
“You attempt to speed things up, and it just has a knock-on effect. So there’s just a little tightness in his calf, which means it will take a little longer to recover.”
Leeds defeated Hull City on Monday night to remain one point behind the Championship leaders, and they will seek to return to the league summit this weekend by scooping up three points.
