Ipswich Town suffer major blow in title race after recent update

Wales international Kieffer Moore will be checked by Ipswich Town’s medical team this week after suffering a back injury in their thrilling home win over Southampton.
Ipswich Town must wait to find out how serious Kieffer Moore’s injury is. The striker was pulled off in the first half of their thrilling 3-2 win over Southampton on Easter Monday.

Moore, who is on loan from Bournemouth until the end of the season, has played an important role in the Tractor Boys’ promotion campaign. Tractor Boys manager Kieran McKenna stated, “I haven’t received the medical report. He took a hard knock in the back. I believe it is completely locked up, which is not ideal. We’ll have to see how he is in the next few days.”

Town finished the Easter season at the top of the Championship, one point ahead of Leeds United with six games remaining. They have won nine of their last ten matches, raising chances of achieving back-to-back promotions.

McKenna described their exhilarating victory over Southampton as “another brilliant day.” It was a very high-level contest to be involved in. Two teams did so much good. When you win with a last-minute winner like that, it’s a truly memorable experience.

“The win was a fantastic occasion. I think everyone got a little lost in it, including the substitutes and the staff. My radar still says there’s 30 seconds left and we need to get organized again. We’ve had it happen to us (conceding twice in stoppage time against Cardiff), and we did it to Rotherham here a month ago (scoring a stoppage-time victory after falling behind late on)You still need to watch the last ball or two out.

“It’s a fantastic event for everyone involved, and I’m sure they’ll remember it for a long time.

“Scoring late is a beneficial habit. It does not occur by chance. I’ve talked about it previously. It takes a lot of effort, but it’s a satisfying way to win a game.”

Next up for the Tractor Boys is a trip to play-off contender Norwich City. Second-placed United, meanwhile, travel to Coventry City on Saturday, while Leicester City host Birmingham City.
