Milan has begun looking into some senior forwards, as Olivier Giroud is expected to join Los Angeles FC, and Mauro Icardi has surfaced as a potential candidate. He is currently playing for Galatasaray and would like to return to Serie A, according to DAZN (via OneFootball).
The marksman’s price is €10/15 million. On the other hand, his salary is approximately €11 million, including add-ons. He’s committed to Cimbom until 2026. He would have to take a significant wage cut to facilitate the relocation. The 31-year-old has 46 goals and 19 assists in 64 appearances with his current team.
During his time at Inter, Icardi settled in Milan. Between 2013 and 2018, he played five years with their crosstown opponents, appearing in 2019 games.
Giroud did not announce his departure but did not discount the reports when speaking with TeleFoot on Sunday (via SportMediaset).
“No comments. The season isn’t done yet, and I’ll be playing in the Euros with France. I have nothing to say on the matter. Being backed by the crowd makes me happy and proud. I try to cherish every moment as much as I can. I’m having fun on the pitch, and that’s what matters.”
Our Take on Milan and Icardi
It appears like Luka Jovic will stay, and he has done enough as a super-sub to warrant it, but that does not rule out another addition, possibly an old-fashioned bruiser to provide additional variety. It will most likely be someone less expensive and burdensome than the Argentine.
