Newcastle United’s hopes of keeping Bruno Guimaraes this summer have apparently been boosted by the news that Toni Kroos is ready to prolong his stay at the club. Kroos was out of contract this summer, but Fabrizio Romano reports that he will sign a one-year extension of his present contract.
Romano posted on X: ‘EXCLUSIVE: Toni Kroos will stay and continue at Real Madrid as a new one-year contract until 2025 is agreed upon! Kroos and Real have been in direct contract talks, and signing is now a formality. Kroos is having another successful season with Real Madrid and Germany.
Kroos’ one-year agreement may imply that Real Madrid does not prioritize a midfielder in this summer’s transfer market, despite claims that they have identified Guimaraes as a possible acquisition. The Brazilian has a release clause that might be activated this summer, leaving the Magpies helpless to reject bids for the midfielder.

PSG has also been linked with a deal for Guimaraes this summer, as the Ligue 1 club prepares to lose Kylian Mbappe to Madrid. While the World Cup champion will depart on a free transfer, removing Mbappe’s salaries off their books will free up a significant amount of money, which PSG may then spend on acquisitions this summer.
Guimaraes isn’t the only player linked with a big-money move away from St James’ Park this summer, with Alexander Isak also apparently attracting interest from clubs around Europe.
