When the Wolves completed the signing of Enzo Gonzalez over the summer, it raised a lot of eyebrows.
The 18-year-old Paraguayan moved to Molineux from his boyhood club Libertad in a £5 million deal.
Gonzalez has only traveled to Brazil before this move was finalized. He is now trying to find his feet in Wolverhampton.
As a result, it’s no wonder that the Wolves are treating Gonzalez like a fragile thing and taking their time integrating him.
The Athletic spoke with Gary O’Neil, who admitted that Gonzalez will take time and has a lot of work ahead of him.

“He still needs a lot of work, as expected,” O’Neil remarked. “People may read that as a negative, but it isn’t; it’s just where he is and is to be expected.”
“He’s a young lad, and the Premier League is the highest level.” So he needs a lot of work, and we’re doing everything we can to get it into him as soon as possible.
“He’s enjoying being around and I’m sure he will have an impact.”
Wolves Gonzalez’s long-term vision was signed with the future in mind, since he is a raw talent.
Wolves, we assume, would have witnessed Brighton’s success with signing South American youth and will be aiming to emulate it.
Gonzalez was expected to be the next Paraguayan to go to Europe, but many observers were surprised by how quickly he did it.
We expect Wolves to look back on the deal as a steal after a season or two of development and adaptation.
