Premier League now make official Newcastle United decision

The Premier League has rescheduled Crystal Palace’s game against Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe’s team were scheduled to visit Selhurst Park on Saturday, March 16, but the game was postponed as the Magpies advanced to the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 4-3 penalty shootout triumph over Championship club Blackburn Rovers.
It set up a last-eight encounter against Manchester City, where a Bernardo Silva brace denied United a Wembley return little over a year after their Carabao Cup final failure.

Newcastle have ten Premier League games left and now know when they will face Palace. The match has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 24, with an 8 p.m. kickoff.

The Magpies are still waiting to find out when their match against Manchester United at Old Trafford will take place.

The Magpies were set to face the Red Devils on Saturday, April 20, after failing to advance to the FA Cup semi-finals following their defeat to City. While Newcastle failed to advance, Manchester United did, defeating Liverpool 4-3 at Old Trafford thanks to a stunning last-minute extra-time goal from Amad Diallo.

Their victory secured a last-four game with Championship side Coventry City at Wembley Stadium, giving Newcastle a free weekend. A new date for the game will almost definitely fall on a weeknight.

Newcastle fans have supported their team despite some problematic kick-off times this season, as evidenced by a Wor Flags display before the 4-4 draw with AFC Bournemouth last month.

Newcastle United - Members' ballot adjusted following fan feedback

On a ‘Green Football Weekend’ weekend, a banner in the Gallowgate End read “TV before fans”. The disrupted games were Liverpool on New Year’s Day (kick-off 8pm), Fulham on January 27 (kick-off 7pm), Aston Villa on January 30 (kick-off 8:15pm), and Arsenal on February 24 (kick-off 8pm).

A statement was followed by the following statement: “Today’s display in the Gallowgate is dedicated to highlighting

the disgusting kick-off times that have been afforded to us by broadcasters in both the Premier League and The FA

Cup since the turn of the year, making a mockery of the Green Football Weekend which is being celebrated by certain

broadcasters. “Newcastle United fans are among of the most passionate and loyal supporters in the country,

dedicated to supporting our team wherever they play. That dedication and passion is absolutely taken for granted by

television networks and football governing bodies. We’ve only had one Saturday 3pm kickoff away from home this

season.

“The expense of being a football fan is rising, with increased costs on trains, buses, and automobile fuel making it an expensive business, but the incessant mentality of placing match-goers last is putting a strain on supporters.

“While we continue to fill away ends, we have not forgotten about the fans priced out by the game’s avarice, those who make English football so appealing to a global audience.

“Late announcements of games to suit broadcasters and people watching on TV have a significant influence on the fans, whom everyone claims are the lifeblood of the sport.
