Joe Hodge has hinted at a January loan transfer away from Wolves if he continues to battle for minutes.
Hodge has made one appearance for Gary O’Neil thus far in 2023/24.
This occurred during a Carabao Cup match versus Blackpool.
Hodge was hurt during the game, but it was just before the last international break. As a result, he was only unavailable for selection for a few games.
Hodge came off the bench again against Manchester City.
But he didn’t make the squad, and he was left out of the final squad against Aston Villa, with Tommy Doyle replacing him after being unable to face his parent club.
Hodge acknowledges he is dissatisfied with his current level of involvement and plans to quit in January if nothing changes…

Hodge discussed his current situation in an interview with the Express & Star.

Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes are certain to start.
Boubacar Traore has made a few cameo appearances, and newcomers Doyle and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde are competing for minutes.
“Obviously, I’m not happy with where I am right now,” Hodge admits. I want to achieve more than I am doing now and believe I am capable of doing so.
“We still have a few months until January.” I’m going to do my hardest to make the team, but if nothing changes, I think I’ll go out and get some minutes because that’s the most important thing for me right now.
“The last 12 months have been a hundred times better than the previous few years, so I have nothing to complain about.” Obviously, the last six months have not gone as planned for the most part, but that is entirely my fault.”
Hodge also mentions previous manager Julen Lopetegui, who had high regard for the youngster.
“Had the old gaffer stayed (Julen Lopetegui), things would probably have been a little different for me now,” he said. “But I suppose that’s simply how things are. Nothing has changed in the way I sustain myself. I’m working hard to make the team.”

All athletes want to play, and it’s refreshing to hear Hodge be open about his predicament.
It is not the first time he’s said about wanting to play more at Wolves. In pre-season he had said he wanted to be a regular at Molineux.
He knows he needs to be playing, and it’s good that he has swung the door open for a potential January loan move.
