Breaking news: Newcastle United now dealt major double FFP blow

Newcastle United’s chances of cashing in on players this summer to comply with the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability standards may take a blow.

Newcastle United’s aspirations of selling players this summer may be dashed if international coaches refuse to allow access to squad members during Euro 2024.

Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, and Leicester City are all expected to sell players by June 30 in order to comply with Premier League financial requirements. Breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), originally known as Financial Fair Play (FFP), could almost surely result in point deductions next season, as Forest and Everton have already been penalized this season.

The Toffees were punished 10 points earlier this season, but the penalty was cut to six on appeal. Forest received a four-point deduction on Monday and may appeal the decision.

According to the Daily Mail, it is “unlikely” that any agents will be allowed to contact with players to negotiate future moves during the European Championship. The final in Germany is scheduled for July 14, two weeks after the deadline to balance the books.

Chelsea are under pressure to balance their accounts after spending so much money under Todd Boehly’s leadership.

Forest is unlikely to be as affected as other teams. Three of their most sought-after players, Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo, and Danilo, will not be present at the Euros.
