Nathan Asiimwe, Charlton Athletic defender, has been summoned into Uganda’s senior team for the first time ahead of friendlies against the Comoros and Ghana.
The 19-year-old signed a new long-term contract with the Addicks in December and has played 23 games this season.
“It’s a proud moment for me and my family,” Asiimwe stated on Charlton’s website. “It was unexpected as well; I only found out at the beginning of this week.
“I’m looking forward to experiencing the new environment because I’ve been at Charlton my entire life and haven’t done anything like this before, so hopefully everything goes smoothly.
“I’m looking forward to training and participating in matches with the club. We have some nice fixtures coming up, so I’ll just try to do my best as I always do.”
Jamaica’s CONCACAF Nations League semi-final match against the United States will feature Karoy Anderson and Michael Hector.
