Sunderland are preparing for their Championship match against QPR at the Stadium of Light, with players unavailable on both sides.
Last time out, the Black Cats were crushed 4-2 against Southampton, their sixth consecutive league defeat. Despite a recent upturn in play, QPR were defeated last weekend, falling 2-0 at Middlesbrough and dropping to 20th in the Championship table.
Here’s the most recent Sunderland and QPR injury and team news before of their clash at the Stadium of Light:
1. Patrick Roberts (Sunderland) – OUT
Roberts has missed Sunderland’s last five matches with a hamstring injury and won’t be available until after the international break.
2. Taylor Richards (QPR) – OUT
Richards has made just four Championship appearances since signing for QPR from Brighton on a permanent deal in the summer. Cifuentes recently said the 23-year-old remains sidelined with a calf issue he sustained in January.
3. Dan Ballard (Sunderland) – DOUBT
Ballard was forced off with a hamstring issue in the second half against Southampton but has been named in Northern Ireland’s squad for this month’s fixtures against Romania and Scotland.
4. Rayan Kolli (QPR) – OUT
Kolli, 19, has made 10 Championship appearances for QPR in midfield this season but hasn’t featured since picking up an injury in a game against Cardiff in January.
5. Luke O’Nien – OUT
O’Nien will serve the second match of his two-game suspension for receiving his 10th yellow card of the season against Leicester last week.
6. Aaron Drewe (QPR) – OUT
The 23-year-old has been named in QPR’s squad since the end of February after suffering an injury setback.
7. Jenson Seelt (Sunderland) – OUT
Seelt is set to miss the rest of this season after picking up a knee injury, which will require surgery, against Southampton last weekend.
8. Jack Clarke (Sunderland) – OUT
Clarke, who has scored 15 league goals this season, is not set to return until April after sustaining an ankle ligament injury.
9. Bradley Dack (Sunderland) – OUT
Dack hasn’t featured since Sunderland’s win over Hull on Boxing Day due to a hamstring issue. The 30-year-old has returned to training but is set to feature for the under-21s side before making his first-team return.
10. Tommy Watson (Sunderland) – DOUBT
The 17-year-old winger has been part of Sunderland’s matchday squad this season but has been unavailable due to a tight hamstring in recent weeks.
11. Aji Alese (Sunderland) – OUT
After starting three successive matches at the start of this year, Alese suffered another injury setback in January. The defender has been stepping up his recovery, yet the club won’t want to rush him back too soon.
12. Corry Evans (Sunderland) – OUT
Evans is nearing his long-awaited return after suffering an ACL injury in January last year. The midfielder has been training with the first-team group but is set to feature for the under-21s side before being named in the senior squad.
13. Elliot Embleton (Sunderland) – OUT
After returning from a thigh injury, Embleton rolled his ankle in training last month and is not yet ready to make his comeback.
14. Dennis Cirkin (Sunderland) – OUT
Cirkin has been sidelined since November with a hamstring injury and underwent surgery on the issue. The full-back isn’t expected to return until around April time at the earliest.
15. Niall Huggins (Sunderland) – OUT
The full-back was stretchered off during Sunderland’s 3-0 defeat against Coventry in December and is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
