Paul Merson quickly changes his mind about Nottingham Forest after what happened last night

Last night, as Luton and Bournemouth delivered a Premier League classic, Paul Merson wrote two humorous tweets about Nottingham Forest.

At halftime, Luton led 3-0 and had a goal difference advantage over Forest. By the end, they had fallen 4-3 and were still three points behind the Reds heading into Saturday’s six-pointer.

Nobody saw a game of this magnitude coming. With Bournemouth having little to play for, it’s hardly unexpected that Luton sprinted out of the blocks and led 3-0.

It was Luton’s return to the ground after their captain, Tom Lockyer, suffered a heart collapse on the pitch in December.

As a result, they were prepared for the game and scored three goals within the first 45 minutes. Merson believed it was time to start worrying about Forest, Everton, and Brentford, writing on X:

Bournemouth scored three goals in 14 second-half minutes and won the game in the final ten minutes, surprising both sets of fans.

Merson reconsidered his decision and resumed full-time posting on X.

The Forest fan base doesn’t always need a cause to go into meltdown mode on social media, and the Reds were true to form at halftime Friday night.

Heads completely dropped off shoulders, and God only knows how some fans will react if Forest are relegated in May.
It’s crucial not to get carried away with other teams’ results, as Forest’s fate is still in their own hands.

Of course, it was frustrating to watch Luton go 3-0 up, but it couldn’t have happened at a better moment, as they crumbled just days before facing Forest.
