Miami Dolphins reach agreement as standout player signs

Salvon Ahmed, another key member of the Miami Dolphins’ formidable 2023 offense, will return for the following season. Ahmed is preparing to begin his sixth season in the NFL and will give depth to a very good running back corps.

According to a recent article on Pro Football Talk, the one-year contract could increase to $1.252 million.

Ahmed was a standout player at the University of Washington but went undrafted in the 2020 draft before signing with the San Francisco 49ers. The speedy and agile running back was signed by the Miami Dolphins after a brief stint in the Bay Area. He fought his way up from the practice squad to a regular spot in the lineup.

Ahmed appeared in eight games for the organization last season, totaling 61 rushing yards and 88 receiving yards. He gained 2.8 yards per attempt and scored two total touchdowns.

Over four seasons with the Dolphins, the running back has accumulated 593 rushing yards, 274 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns.

The Dolphins’ running game was one of the finest in the NFL last year, as the team finished sixth in the league. They averaged 135.8 yards per game and hope to repeat that performance in 2024.

Ahmed will have his work cut out for him, as several elite running backs on the roster, including De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert, will return next season.
