The Auburn Tigers continue to excel in recruiting, securing a commitment from the nation’s No. 5 wide receiver for the class of 2026. He is from Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County and brings a wealth of talent and potential to Auburn’s wide receiver corps, which is shaping up to be one of the nation’s best.
The son of Dexter Carter, a former Florida State standout and 1990 NFL first-round pick, Devin has already demonstrated elite ability. Known for his knack for creating separation, Carter’s 2024 stats include 41 receptions, 669 yards, and five touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. ESPN ranks him as the No. 26 overall player in the class, a testament to his versatility and skill. Despite playing in a balanced offense that limits his touches, Carter consistently makes the most of his opportunities, as highlighted by his impressive HUDL film.
One standout play showcases Carter’s athleticism and awareness: a leaping sideline catch against Carrollton High School, one of Georgia’s top teams. His speed to get open, coupled with excellent hand-eye coordination, sets him apart. He excels at making difficult catches in traffic, finding open spaces in zones, and turning short receptions into significant gains.
Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 165 pounds, Carter regularly faces extra defensive attention at the high school level. This experience will serve him well at Auburn, where he will benefit from playing alongside other top-tier talents such as Malcolm Simmons, Cam Coleman, Bryce Cain, and others. This depth will make it difficult for defenses to focus solely on Carter, opening opportunities for him to shine.
While Carter is a threat on deep passes, his ability to catch screens and short throws and turn them into big plays makes him even more dynamic. His knack for eluding defenders after the catch is a significant weapon, particularly given the likelihood of single coverage in Auburn’s stacked offense.
Currently ranked No. 6 nationally in recruiting by 247Sports, Auburn is assembling a formidable group of wide receivers. Devin Carter’s commitment adds another key piece to this unit. With one more high school season ahead, Auburn fans have plenty to look forward to when Carter officially joins the Tigers in 2026.
