After weeks of interviews, the Las Vegas Raiders have finalized their leadership for the offseason. John Spytek, the newly appointed general manager, will oversee player signings during NFL free agency and make key draft selections. At the same time, head coach Pete Carroll will focus on developing strategies to get the most out of the Raiders’ roster, which still requires significant improvements.
Improving quarterback performance is a top priority for the Raiders. With Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew set to compete for the starting role, the team is still searching for an upgrade after finishing 29th in scoring. Interestingly, recent business moves by the Raiders might pave the way for a nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback to land in their lap.
Pete Carroll could bring Russell Wilson to Las Vegas Raiders
It’s clear that the Las Vegas Raiders need to improve their quarterback situation. However, similar to last year, their draft position could limit their chances of securing a top-tier prospect. With the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Raiders may have to explore free agency or trade options to address their most pressing need.
However, with Pete Carroll now on board as head coach, some, including NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, can’t help but draw a connection to impending free agent Russell Wilson.

“One of [Carroll’s] close friends is Russell Wilson, the Steelers quarterback. From what I know, Wilson wanted to join the Raiders last year, but it didn’t work out. There’s a possibility that this pairing could be brought up again.”
The Raiders will be eager to find a stronger quarterback this offseason, and given their current options, it’s easy to see Coach Carroll advocating for the one quarterback who’s given him a Super Bowl ring. Moreover, if the offers are comparable, Wilson may choose to reunite with his former coach.
In any case, hiring Carroll has greatly improved the Raiders’ chances of securing one of the top quarterbacks available this offseason.
