Buffalo Bills have completed two important signings

Former Rams Taylor Rapp and David Edwards have found their place with the Bills.

As a free agent for the first time last year, Taylor Rapp was forced to settle for a one-year, $1.77 million contract with the Buffalo Bills, who already had two top-tier starting safety. He was leaving the Los Angeles Rams not for a fresh start, but rather to start anew. This week, Rapp was given the opportunity to start after the Bills fired Jordan Poyer and appear to be parting ways with free agency Micah Hyde, paving the way for a new safety. Buffalo replied by offering Rapp a contract worth up to $14.5 million over three years before to free agency.

 

Rapp started four games in 2023, recording 50 tackles and one interception. It was his fewest snaps in his career, except for when he missed nearly half of the season in 2020. But Rapp played a career-high 191 special teams snaps and remained with Buffalo until a chance arose, which it definitely did. He isn’t the only former Ram getting compensated by the Bills.

Guard David Edwards also moved from Los Angeles to Buffalo in 2023 free agency, and the Bills signed him to a two-year, $6 million contract deal on Wednesday.

 

 

Edwards appears to be signed as a utility backup rather than a starter, but he may simply be waiting for the proper moment, as Rapp was. Edwards, a fifth-round pick in 2019, did not start any games for the Bills in 2023, instead playing 148 snaps as a reserve and 80 on special teams.

The Rams don’t really miss Rapp or Edwards, so they may be happy that two players they cultivated have been paid not once, but twice.
