Bruno Guimaraes now sends honest message to Newcastle United fans

Bruno Guimaraes’ trophy dream remains alive, as Newcastle United advances to the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Eddie Howe’s side had a difficult night at Ewood Park, but they came away with a win – just. The game went to penalties, and Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka was the hero.

He saved two penalty kicks to guarantee Newcastle United’s place in the FA Cup’s next round, despite another night of huge underperformance.

After Arsenal’s performance, fans expected a response. However, they did not receive one. Newcastle’s performance was concerning once more, but the important thing is that they got through.

The Magpies are in the FA Cup quarterfinals and are only one game away from another trip to Wembley.

That will please every player at St James’ Park, especially Bruno Guimaraes. He landed his penalty in the shootout and was his usual enthusiastic self as he and his teammates celebrated their victory in front of the travelling Toon Army.

Following the game, Bruno resorted to his own Instagram account to share his honest thoughts on the FA Cup penalty shootout victory.

He wrote: “A extremely difficult game in which we had to try our best to progress! I’m happy for our team and really proud of today’s effort. “We stick to our goals.”

It was quite challenging at Ewood Park. To begin with, Newcastle struggled to generate many opportunities. Meanwhile, Blackburn created opening after opening, but Dubravka denied them.

By the time Howe’s side began to create opportunities, they were unable to capitalize on them. Newcastle could have won before the penalties, but they were not clinical in the final third.

Bruno was guilty of this, wasting a golden opportunity to make it 2-1 in extra time.

But they won the shootout and advanced to the FA Cup quarterfinals. Fans will be hoping for a home draw, something we haven’t seen in the league this season.

Newcastle will have to outperform themselves against anyone they face in the following round. It wasn’t a particularly good performance, but they got by on the skin of their teeth.
