Simon Kjaer has been a regular for Milan in recent months due to injuries to his teammates in the back. However, the emergency is coming to an end, and his rediscovered form has not encouraged management to award him an extension. His agent, Mikkel Belk, spoke with the Danish publication Bold (via Calciomercato).
“I will not name specific teams, but he has and will continue to be the focus of interest in every window. It’s true that a few teams, including major ones, moved for him in January. But he was already in one of those and didn’t want to leave Milan in the midst of another exciting season.”
Belk disclosed one of the teams that were after Kjaer.
Fenerbahce asked about him. He was once one of their biggest stars, and they still want to bring him back. However, he was not even close to transferring. It was not the appropriate time to contemplate it.”
Kjaer’s contract is out in June.
“We haven’t discussed next season with his current team. We’ll do it at the correct time. He would like to renew. However, he is in an ideal scenario because he will be free to transfer after participating in Euro 2024 with Denmark if he does not.
Our thoughts on Kjaer and Milan.
The writing is on the wall since he hasn’t been dominant or reliable physically since his ACL tear, and the front office will go younger. He did, however, come through when they most needed him.
