Darvin Ham May Not Coach In Warriors Game as Phil Handy now set to replace him

We already knew that All-Star Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James would be sitting out tonight’s nationally broadcast TNT game against the Golden State Warriors due to a left ankle peroneal tendinopathy. However, it now seems that the Lakers might also be without their coach.

The Los Angeles Times’ Dan Woike reports that head coach Darvin Ham missed a Lakers team practice on Wednesday due to an undisclosed personal issue. The Lakers are hopeful that Ham will be able to coach at the Chase Center on Thursday, but if he’s unable to, longtime Lakers assistant coach Phil Handy is the likely substitute.

With a current record of 30-26, the Lakers hold the ninth seed in the Western Conference, while the tenth-seeded Golden State Warriors stand at 27-26. The NBA recently postponed several of the Warriors’ games following the unexpected passing of assistant coach Dejan Milojević at a team dinner.

Both teams, former Western Conference semifinal rivals, are now fighting to secure a place in the play-in bracket.

As the postseason approaches, this game holds significant importance for both the Warriors and the Lakers as they battle for positioning. Let’s hope that any personal issues Coach Ham may be facing are resolved swiftly.
