Newcastle handed triple injury boost as trio return to training before Arsenal clash

Newcastle United received a much-needed boost as key players return to training ahead of their match against Arsenal. Eddie Howe welcomed Alexander Isak and Joe Willock back after their recovery from groin and Achilles issues respectively.

Both players have been involved in recent training sessions and are poised to make their long-awaited returns at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Isak was close to featuring on the bench in the previous game against Bournemouth but ultimately missed out, with Anthony Gordon leading the attacking line instead.

Willock has endured a challenging period on the sidelines due to setbacks from previous injuries, limiting him to just three appearances in the Premier League this season. Howe expressed optimism about Willock’s progress, stating,

“He’s knocking on the door, very close, looking good, and feeling much better.”

Additionally, there’s positive news regarding Fabian Schar, who participated in group training this week after sustaining a worrying wrist injury in the last match against Bournemouth. Despite initial concerns about the severity of the injury, it appears that Schar has fully recovered and is expected to partner with Sven Botman in defense against Arsenal.

However, Newcastle will still be without several key players including Callum Wilson, Joelinton, Matt Targett, Nick Pope, and Elliot Anderson for the upcoming fixture.
