Coby White makes ‘excellent’ admission to be Bulls’ starting point guard

CBS Chicago reports The Bulls’ preseason schedule will resume on Thursday when they visit the Denver Nuggets in their first game at the United Center.

Matt Zahn of CBS 2 has the latest on a team attempting to determine who will be the starting point guard and how this roster will be better than previous season.

The Bulls were back at the Advocate Center, hoping that the week in Nashville brought them closer together, even though Zach LaVine isn’t convinced.

“We’ve been together three years,” LaVine said. “I think we know each other pretty well. It’s the same team, so at least that’s my take on it. I think it was good to get away and do something different.”

Bulls praised for Coby White extension: 'Got him on a good deal'

Guard Coby White stated in Nashville that the squad “definitely got a lot closer” because “we were with each other more than we were by ourselves, and it gave us a chance to just hang out.”

White performed admirably as the starting point guard in the preseason opener. Obviously, getting the job to start the regular season would mean a lot to him.

“I wouldn’t take it for granted,” he said. “I’d be thankful for it.”

White added, “There’s not many times you get multiple opportunities to become a starter in this league. I started my second year and I haven’t started since.”

White will not play in the team’s second preseason game, according to head coach Billy Donovan. Donovan did say he’s really pleased with him, saying White is defiant in a positive manner, won’t give up, and is always striving to better.

The Bulls’ ability to improve will most likely be determined by the output of their starting point guard and Patrick Williams, who is in the final year of his contract before becoming a restricted free agency.
