Brian Jean-Mary, the Tennessee Volunteers’ linebackers coach, has been approached about a job with the Michigan Wolverines.
Jerry Mack, Tennessee’s running backs coach, left to pursue a professional career earlier this week. Mack accepted the same position with the Jacksonville Jaguars, a significant loss for the Vols’ coaching staff after he performed admirably with his team. Michigan is now pursuing linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary for the same position, and there could be interest.
According to Football Scoop, the Wolverines had approached Jean-Mary about a reunion in Ann Arbor. Nothing is final or official, but Tennessee is in danger of losing another senior assistant.
“According to multiple sources, Tennessee linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary has emerged as a major candidate for the Michigan linebacker position. Sounds familiar? Heupel & Co. hired Jean-Mary away from Michigan two years ago. However, the Wolverines are rebuilding their coaching staff on both sides of the ball after losing previous head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter to the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers. Moore has now hired Don “Wink” Martindale, a long-tenured, esteemed NFL defensive coordinator, to lead the Michigan defense, and sources tell FootballScoop on Tuesday that Moore and Martindale had engaged Jean-Mary in negotiations about returning to Ann Arbor, Michigan.“
