Chiefs star picks out two Raven players that really gave them trouble last season

Last night’s Super Bowl saw the Kansas City Chiefs overcome the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, 25-22. When asked what gave the Chiefs such confidence, pass rusher Chris Jones responded that they had previously played the best team in the NFL.

“I think we faced the best team in the league in [the] Baltimore Ravens, hands down,” Jones was quoted as saying.

Jones cited the Chiefs’ postseason journey as another reason for confidence, but made sure to emphasize the AFC Championship.

“And also going to [play] the Baltimore Ravens [at M&T Bank Stadium],” Jones was quoted as saying. “It’s a challenging environment. MVP Lamar Jackson and that defense, dude. We [were] able to overcome the challenges; we were not going to lose here.”

While Super Bowl LVIII was a tighter game on the scoreboard, Jones stated that the two best teams in the NFL were not competing on Sunday. This occurred two weeks ago in Baltimore.

Ravens Could Play in 2024 Season Opener vs. Chiefs

The Chiefs not only secured another Lombardi Trophy, but they also confirmed hosting the 2024 season opening. The Ravens are on the shortlist of opponents the Chiefs may face.

The NFL will find it tough to rule out a Ravens-Chiefs rematch for Thursday’s opening. It would pit two-time league MVP Lamar Jackson against the defending champions.

However, there are many of possibilities. Other teams on the Chiefs’ 2024 home schedule include the Cincinnati Bengals, with quarterback Joe Burrow returning from a season-ending injury, the Houston Texans, with Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud, and the Los Angeles Chargers, led by new Head Coach Jim Harbaugh and quarterback Justin Herbert.

With the Ravens also scheduled to meet the Chargers in 2024, the NFL may consider a primetime clash between Jim and John Harbaugh.

Regardless of the circumstances, the 2024 season will begin with brilliant lights for Baltimore.

FS1’s Joy Taylor Says “Lamar Jackson is Solidified for the Hall of Fame”

Many people expressed their feelings and thoughts after Jackson earned his second MVP award, as reported in Friday’s LFW. But Fox Sports 1’s Joy Taylor believes Canton, Ohio, should be preparing Jackson’s bronze bust.

“He’s a lock for the Hall of Fame now,” Taylor remarked. “It would be unprecedented for him not to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.” And to watch a man this deep into his career—six seasons in at the age of 27—have two almost unanimous MVPs, one confirmed unanimous MVP, and lead his team to the AFC Championship Game despite being the one seed this year is beyond unbelievable.”

Taylor commented on how the national media, including herself, heavily criticize Jackson.

“We don’t give Lamar Jackson much slack. We’re really critical of him. We hold him to a high level, and I believe that because we do, and because he plays the game in such a unique way, the criticism diminishes the brilliance that he has achieved. Both individually and as a group. Because this is his most successful year with his club, leading them to the AFC Championship Game, which we all know is extremely difficult to accomplish. … It is quite difficult to get your team there. It’s his first time doing this. Two MVPs, he’s going to be in the Hall of Fame, and we’re witnessing a really terrific guy—an all-time great player he is just entering his prime”.

It’s great to hear national pundits recognize themselves and explain why they criticize Jackson. But, with two league MVPs in Jackson’s trophy cabinet to go with his other accomplishments, he has cemented himself in rare company.
