AC Milan has identified the player they see as their future center-forward, but there are hurdles to overcome before the deal becomes a reality.
According to today’s Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan), there’s anticipation for significant movements among forwards in the upcoming summer transfer window, including Kylian Mbappe’s potential move to Real Madrid and Rafael Leao possibly joining PSG.
The newspaper also points out the challenge Bologna faces in retaining their striker Joshua Zirkzee, who has impressed with nine goals and six assists in 24 matches across all competitions under Thiago Motta this season.
Geoffrey Moncada, Milan’s technical director, strongly believes that Zirkzee could succeed Olivier Giroud, whose contract is expiring, with doubts lingering over Luka Jovic as well.
Zirkzee is tied to Bologna until June 30, 2026, giving them no immediate pressure to sell below his true value, especially considering Bayern Munich’s €40m buy-back clause in his contract.
CEO Giorgio Furlani remained tight-lipped when asked about Zirkzee, but it’s certain that AC Milan will pursue him in the summer, with expectations that the price could exceed €40m.
