Newcastle United is allegedly interested in signing Arsenal’s youngster Amario Cozier-Duberry this summer.
The 18-year-old is out of contract with the Gunners at the end of the season and will be available on a free transfer if no new deal is negotiated. Clubs are keeping a close eye on his status and considering a move.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is ‘in negotiations’ with the player to sign him to a new deal, with conversations ‘ongoing’ between the two parties.
There is no indication that a new agreement is close to being signed.
If talks break down, Newcastle are identified as one of the clubs interested in landing the winger on a free transfer this summer. However, they are not alone; Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Anderlecht, and Wolves have all expressed interest in a prospective deal.
Cozier-Duberry progressed through the Emirates Stadium’s youth squads. He has been a regular for Arsenal’s U21 team in Premier League 2 this season, scoring four goals and contributing two assists in eight games.
His performances for the younger teams earned him a call-up to the first-team squad.
He was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup win against Brentford in September and in the Champions League Group encounter against Sevilla last November. The teenager has also been added to Arsenal’s B list for the Champions League knockout stages.
The Magpies have placed a high value on acquiring young players. On January deadline day, they completed the transfer of Alfie Harrison from Manchester City, with the 18-year-old joining the club’s youth setup at St James’ Park.
