Injured 31-year-old shares new fitness update ahead of Liverpool vs Burnley

Liverpool surely missed having Mohamed Salah on the field at the Emirates last Sunday. Despite winning games without him earlier in January, this time, their luck ran out. Without Salah and Darwin Nunez, the team seemed lacking in attack, resulting in a disappointing 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

This defeat likely heightened the anxiety among Liverpool supporters, who are eagerly awaiting Salah’s return. Fortunately, the 31-year-old provided a promising update on his Instagram stories last night. In the photos, Salah appeared to be in good shape as he stretched in what seemed to be his home gym, showing no apparent issues with his hamstring.

With four days left before Liverpool’s next match against Burnley on Saturday, this update brings hope that Salah will be back on the pitch soon.

Salah looking limber

Certainly, relying solely on a couple of snapshots from Salah’s home gym doesn’t provide a comprehensive understanding of his current fitness status. However, these images suggest that Salah might be on track to participate in training sessions this week.

Similar to their performance in 2022, Liverpool managed to alleviate concerns about their ability to compete without Salah earlier in January. However, the absence of both Salah and Nunez had a noticeable impact on the team’s performance last Sunday against Arsenal. Together, they have contributed 29 goals this season, a significant loss felt by Jurgen Klopp’s side, particularly at the Emirates.

Looking ahead, the upcoming match against Burnley appears to be less demanding. If Salah is not fully prepared, there’s no urgency to rush his return for this fixture.

However, Liverpool’s priority now is to swiftly recover from their recent setback. It’s frustrating that they have to wait a full week before they can put the Arsenal game behind them. They’ll hopefully be eager to showcase their best performance at Anfield.

Considering Burnley’s struggles in the relegation zone, Liverpool should have the upper hand regardless. Yet, if Salah is fit enough to at least make the squad, it could provide an additional boost for the Reds.

During Salah’s absence, his pursuit of the Premier League’s Golden Boot hasn’t suffered. Despite Erling Haaland also facing injury concerns, both players remain tied at the top of the goal-scoring charts with 14 goals each. Given Salah’s competitive nature, he’ll be eager to contribute more goals as soon as possible, and the Burnley match presents a potential opportunity for him to do so.

Let’s stay tuned for more positive updates as the week progresses and training continues.
