European club now confident they’ll complete big-money Newcastle transfer

Paris Saint-Germain are certain that they will win the race for one player, despite interest from Chelsea and other Premier League clubs.

Chelsea and Liverpool both have an interest in Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to AS.

According to the Daily Mirror, PSG believes they have a good chance of signing Guimaraes.

According to the article, the 26-year-old’s contract has a release clause worth over £100 million.

Guimaraes isn’t the only Newcastle player that has been linked with Chelsea. According to journalist Simon Phillips, the Blues have enquired about Callum Wilson.

PSG may well sign Guimaraes. They now have both the lure and the money.

Chelsea would not have to cry over it, however. The Blues are in fantastic midfield shape.
They presently have expensive players like Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, while Mauricio Pochettino also has Conor Gallagher and Romeo Lavia.

However, the Argentine has some issues with the last two. Gallagher’s contract expires next year, and Lavia has been injured throughout the season. However, on paper, it is clearly not Chelsea’s weakest link.

In any event, is another £100 million midfielder really what the Chelsea team needs? Is Guimaraes going to elevate the Blues from ninth to fourth place? Probably not; it is not what midfielders do. That is the kind of money they should be spending on forwards who can win games.

Finally, we do not believe the Brazil international is what Chelsea and Pochettino need right now, especially if he is going to cost £100 million.
