54-year-old manager confirms decision to replace Stefano Pioli at the of the season.

One of the themes dominating the Italian media right now is Antonio Conte’s future and whether a return to Serie A is in the cards for next season.

This morning’s Quotidiano Sportivo (via PianetaMilan) assesses Conte’s status, noting that he has been linked with a number of different Italian clubs since leaving Tottenham.

They confirm that he wants to return to coaching in Italy to be closer to his family (who live in Turin), and that he has three possible possibilities for 2024-25.

According to the report, the Salento-born coach’s most likely destinations are Milan and Roma. The Rossoneri are set to replace Stefano Pioli at the end of the season.

Napoli is a little further behind, with Conte having already said ‘no’ twice to taking over this season, first from Rudi Garcia and then from interim Walter Mazzarri. Aurelio De Laurentiis has other options in mind, including Jose Mourinho and maybe Pioli.

A return to Juventus is also being considered, which may be ideal for him. However, given Massimiliano Allegri’s great season, a split is unlikely at this time.

As we reported earlier this month, Conte is not a viable option for Milan due to a variety of issues, and there are a few other names ahead of him.
