According to Sky Germany, Newcastle is interested in Can Yılmaz Uzun, an 18-year-old forward who presently plays for Nürnberg in Germany’s second division.
A few days later, Turkish publication Fanatik said Newcastle are one of four clubs vying for Uzun’s signature, with talks underway to explore a move for around €10 million. It is believed that the striker has ‘received offers’ from Newcastle, Brighton, Frankfurt, and Borussia Dortmund.
According to Sport Witness, Uzun has hinted that a January transfer would be tough but replied “we’ll see” when asked if he will leave Nürnberg in the summer. The player, who scored a brace in Nürnberg’s win on Saturday, is under contract with the German club until 2027.
Following past signings for Yankuba Minteh and Garang Kuol, as well as a recent agreement for Manchester City teenager Alfie Harrison, it’s evident that the club wants to attract elite young talent to Tyneside.
