Newcastle star agree terms to join new club after ‘huge’ offer accepted

Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron has reportedly reached an agreement with Saudi club Al-Shabab, according to sources from Football Insider. The forward is said to have accepted a substantial offer from the Saudi Pro League team, aiming for a move to the Middle East in the winter transfer window.

However, a fee agreement between Newcastle and Al-Shabab is still pending. Despite this, the transfer is anticipated to go through, as Newcastle seeks to generate funds for new signings and address Financial Fair Play obligations.

Manager Eddie Howe is open to the sale of the 29-year-old, who is not considered a crucial part of the club’s long-term plans. Almiron, who joined Newcastle in January 2019 for a reported £21 million from MLS side Atlanta United, is expected to conclude his five-year stint with the club.

He has been a prominent figure this season, making 24 starts out of a total of 31 appearances across all competitions. The Paraguay international has contributed five goals and two assists, including scoring the opening goal in their historic Champions League group stage victory against Paris Saint-Germain in October.

To accommodate new signings and alleviate financial concerns, it is believed that the club needs to offload players this month, a situation exacerbated by recent financial charges faced by Everton and Nottingham Forest.

Football Insider sources reported on January 20 that Newcastle aims to generate at least £60 million through transfer sales to address their Financial Fair Play (FFP) situation.

Numerous key players from the team have been linked with potential moves away from Tyneside in the current transfer window. As disclosed by Football Insider on January 22, Atletico Madrid presented a loan offer to acquire striker Callum Wilson, but Newcastle turned down the proposal.

Additionally, sources informed Football Insider on January 22 that Bayern Munich is preparing a new offer for Kieran Trippier after their initial loan-to-buy bid was rejected.

Newcastle sit 10th in the Premier League table after a run of four consecutive defeats.

They next face Fulham at Craven Cottage in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday 27 January.
