AC Milan are expected to sign Chelsea defender Trovoh Chalobah on loan in January, as the Premier League club is receptive to the notion.
According to Claudio Raimondi of Sport Mediaset (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are doing everything possible to buy a centre-back this month, given the number of players out injured.
A number of names have been connected with Milan, and while Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno appears to be the frontrunner, he may be too expensive for a January move.
A debt transfer appears significantly more likely, which lends itself to Chalobah. He has not played much for Chelsea this season, which is owing in part to his recent return from a knee injury
That injury will be of concern to Milan as they do not need their new signing to end up injured, but it is a risk they may take.
As Raimondi says, Chelsea seem open to the idea of a loan with an option for Milan to make it a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.
“A defender will arrive and it will probably be Chalobah. Chelsea is opening up. He can arrive on loan, a Tomori-style operation,” Raimondi said.
That is the formula that Milan used to get Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea in 2021.
