Southampton and Stoke City are charged by FA for violating FA Rule E20.1 in connection with their Championship match on October 3rd. Both clubs are accused of failing to prevent their players and/or technical staff from engaging in inappropriate or violent conduct after the game concluded.
Tensions flared at the Bet365 Stadium among both sets of players following the final whistle, particularly after Stuart Armstrong’s free-kick secured a 1-0 victory for Saints. The FA’s regulatory and disciplinary update specifies that Stoke City is alleged to have allowed improper behavior from their players during the 87th minute of the match.

Southampton’s triumph has been mired in controversy, as Alex Neil asserted that the referee body PGMOL had informed Stoke that they should have been awarded a penalty and that the free-kick leading to Southampton’s goal was deemed “soft.”
Both Southampton and Stoke have until Wednesday, October 18 to provide their responses and could potentially face fines as a result of these charges.
