Sam Walker has completed a permanent transfer to Bradford City after his contract with Charlton expired.

Top scorer Alfie May is expected to return after missing the last two matches with a back problem.

May shares the top spot in League One scoring with 15 goals, alongside Jordan Rhodes of Blackpool. Rhodes has recently extended his loan at Blackpool from Huddersfield Town until the season’s conclusion.

Darren Ferguson, who initially introduced May to the Football League in January 2017 when he managed Doncaster Rovers, might not be thrilled to face May. Last season, May netted three goals against Posh for Cheltenham Town, including a remarkable strike from near the halfway line at London Road in a 3-0 away victory.

Charlton has been active in the January transfer window, securing loan deals for midfielders Tyreeq Bakinson from Sheffield Wednesday and Lewis Fiorini from Manchester City. While Bakinson could potentially debut against Posh, Fiorini is currently lacking match fitness.

Charlton is in dire need of a boost, having not won a League One game since their 2-1 victory over Cheltenham on November 28. Despite being appointed as manager in September 2023, Michael Appleton, the former manager of Blackburn Rovers and Lincoln City, is already facing pressure from Charlton fans.
