Burnley recieve transfer boost to sign 24-year-old midfielder

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique de Marseille is looking to transfer Pape Gueye (24) in January, despite reports of interest from Burnley.

Gueye, who has only lately returned from a lengthy suspension, will not be kept by Marseille. The Senegalese international has rejected two contract renewal bids from the French club, and with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2024, the hierarchy has decided that now is the time to cash in, according to Hawkins.

Meanwhile, Foot Mercato reports that Burnley has been relentlessly pursuing a transfer for Gueye, who is currently on international duty with Senegal ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Premier League club is consequently very interested in the former Le Havre AC midfielder, and for OM, this interest represents an opportunity to profit from a player that they would otherwise lose on a free transfer.
