Southampton player returns to club after spending two years out on loan

St Mirren’s on-loan defender Thierry Small has been recalled by his parent club Southampton.

The 19-year-old made 21 appearances for St Mirren across two loan-spells.

After spending the latter half of last season on loan at Paisley, the teenager returned to the club in August for a second loan spell.

Over the course of two years, he made a total of 21 appearances.

“St Mirren Football Club can confirm that Southampton have exercised their option to recall Thierry Small from his loan,” the Scottish Premiership club said on their official website.

“Over two loan spells, the 19-year-old made 21 appearances for Saints, six of which came this season.”

“We thank Thierry for all his efforts during his time at the club and wish him every success in his future career.”

Small, who has made one senior appearance for Southampton, made his farewell game for St Mirren on December 23 in their 2-0 loss to Hearts.
