According to Calciomercato’s report on December 20th, Southampton appears to be leading the race to acquire Juventus’ Matias Soulé.
The winger has been on loan at Frosinone since summer and has showcased his abilities with six goals and an assist in 15 league games this season.
Southampton is actively pursuing the 20-year-old, as indicated by TV Play, suggesting that he could depart Juventus as soon as the winter transfer window opens.
Juventus is seeking financial gains to facilitate new signings for Massimiliano Allegri next month. While offloading key players might be challenging, their focus seems to be on leveraging some of their young talents to generate revenue. Soulé is one such prospect who has drawn interest from several English clubs. Southampton, in particular, is seriously contemplating a January purchase of the player.
Initially valued at around €20m, Soulé’s price tag has reportedly risen to €30m. Juventus is looking to auction off the South American talent to the highest bidder during the upcoming window, and Russell Martin’s Southampton side is poised to initiate negotiations. In fact, TV Play asserts that Southampton is prepared to meet the €30m asking price to secure the forward.
Whether Soulé would be willing to join the Championship side during the winter transfer period remains uncertain.
