AC Milan receive transfer message from striker ahead of January move

Jonathan David’s early-season struggles at Lille had sparked significant concerns, but he appears to have reignited his scoring prowess.

Calciomercato.com highlights David’s impactful nine-minute appearance, netting a crucial goal in the 93rd minute against Paris Saint-Germain, sending a strong message to his critics.

Despite tallying an impressive 26 goals and four assists in 40 games last season, David’s rocky start this season led to him losing his starting position to Yusuf Yazici, causing skepticism among Milan fans regarding his potential signing as their future center-forward.

With three goals in the last four games, including the crucial one against PSG, David has injected fresh life into Lille’s Champions League aspirations. Notably, ongoing transfer rumors surrounding the Canadian international, coupled with his contract expiring in June 2025, are influencing Fonseca’s decisions.

In January, Lille won’t budge on the €40 million price tag for David. Milan is hesitant to pursue him at that rate, while Juventus is interested but may only have room if Dusan Vlahovic is sold.

However, the scenario changes next summer, as David will be a year away from contract expiry, significantly reducing his valuation. This situation might prompt AC Milan to seek an agreement, leveraging their strong rapport with Lille.

Yet, directors Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio are exploring other player options, ensuring they have various alternatives to the former Gent striker.
